Eastern Screech Owl

The Eastern Screech Owl is one of the smallest owls in the United States.  It stands only 8 inches tall. The Screech Owl eats large insects, lizards, small snakes, geckos and small mice. They live almost everywhere in Texas and stay here all year round. They usually live by themselves except when they are raising babies. Both parents help to feed the babies. The babies usually hatch in the spring and they are considered to be all grown up by late summer or early fall. Usually only one or two chick grow up to be adults.
